Jewelry - Brooches - Series 1 | Series 2 | Series 3 | Plaid Brooches | Don McKee
Plaid Brooches are the traditional method of fastening the plaid, cloak, or shawl at the shoulder. The Penannular (style 185) is the most ancient style and one time became so exaggerated in size and design that a law was passed in Scotland forbidding the pin to protrude beyond the shoulder. The remaining brooches incorporate other designs from the Book of Kells.
